ABOUT US
The Cottonwood Guesthouse and Event Center is owned and operated by myself, Gloria Gorrell, and my husband, Bill Gorrell.
I was born in Hazelton, but moved to the Lower Mainland with my family when I was young. Bill and I have recently moved to Hazelton, buying and renovating a house just a few blocks from where I lived as a child.
Bill and I make a wonderful renovation team. Bill is a Project manager with years of experience in building and landscaping, and I am an Interior designer who enjoys breathing new life into old furniture and accessories. Together we have created a beautiful home that includes a three bedroom guesthouse, and an event center.
The guesthouse was created to fill a need in the community. We noticed that travelers, especially those coming to the area to work, are looking for clean, comfortable and safe accommodation, where they can make themselves at home for a few days or a few months; And as one level of our house was empty, we decided to turn it into what is now, The Cottonwood Guesthouse. The rooms were booked and in use before the space was even completed. We have been enjoying a full house and the new friends it hosts, ever since.
Bill and I moved home with a plan to help out in the community in any way we can. I enjoy volunteering at the Food bank and at the Elders lunch, and Bill coordinates a men’s prayer breakfast, but we hope to do more. The property we have purchased includes a large building that we have renovated into an event center, and use as a Ministry center, offering sermons, men’s groups, women’s groups, youth groups, games nights and anything else we can think of. The event center is rented to the public to host their own special events. The funds from the event rentals help fund the community events that Bill and I host.
Our goal is to make a positive impact in the community.
